As usual, behind Impala lay the image of a spectrogram, giving the idea that we, the crowd, had transcended into the fourth dimension, able to view sound visually. In the middle of "Let It Happen," a bushel of confetti was released into the open Morrison sky, trailing off over the crowd as if a colony of hungry, multi-colored bats had arisen to feed. Impala started its set with the first song off its latest album, Currents, titled "Let It Happen," the alluring, synth-driven ballad that could get even the most stubborn Generation-Xer out of his seat. The visual elements were beautifully choreographed to the music, an assortment of lights dancing in unison with bubbly pop-synth rhythms. The band and its hard-working crew have focused on the integrity of creating a stage show that is as close to listening to a studio album as possible. I have yet to see another band that puts as much effort into the structure of its sound and what audio engineers can accomplish behind the console. Impala’s set was by far the best-sounding show I have witnessed at Red Rocks. This show, despite taking place at a large outdoor venue, was as seamless as the last one. Parker reminisced about that show from the stage, recalling how special it was to all the bandmembers of Tame Impala at the time, and said they never could have imagined that they would be back six years later to headline a sold-out show of their own. This was my second time seeing Impala live the first was a gig at the Ogden more than a year ago. Impala previously played Red Rocks six years ago, opening for MGMT. Last night, the town of Morrison, famous for the discovery of dinosaur bones and John Brisben Walker’s vision, hosted another event that the thousands in attendance may come to consider historic: Tame Impala's first headlining show at Red Rocks Amphitheatre. Tame Impala, the genius project of Australian musician Kevin Parker, played the landmark venue to a sold-out, pulsating crowd, and was joined by gap-toothed goofball wizard Mac DeMarco, who opened the show. EazyDraw 9 delivers bright sRGB colors on screens that are non-P3.Put my laser engraver to good use for the first time, engraving text and graphics for a Walnut front panel for my Shruthi XT synth. Actually there are two requirements to see these brighter colors, the App must support and present P3 colors and the display must be a P3 display.ĮazyDraw 9 is now fully color managed and supports P3 colors on P3 screens. Simple terms: colors can be brighter on a P3 screen. The P3 color space has a much wider color gamut than sRGB. If Yamaha can`t make Pro saxes as good as the Purple era horns then they may as well give up, Yam aren`t known for doing things down to a price at the high end, in fact the Mk3 developments in particular have cost them money (the MK2 and MK1 seem to be much the same from the tenon down) and it got to a state of insanity when someone said that the older student horns were better than any of the current Pro models (Yamaha must be really dumb if they can`t make a Pro horn better than an 80s student one !), I`ve played 23s and they`re really good but the 61/62 regardless of vintage or logo colour is in a different league for handling and open-ness - maybe these people just don`t like the modern sound (they`d hate a Yani). this is why I started this thread, the purple logo fever is getting out of hand. Īgreed, it looks cheap and IS cheap as it`s just paint under the laquer instead of a stamp in the brass or engraving. It`d be good to de-mythify the purple logo once and for all as either truth or bunkum, Pro horns only or the 32s and students as well. I know the subject has come up loads of times but usually along with the grips of Purple fever or Purple Hatred from the posters involved. ġ:- If any of the better action business is true does it onlu relate to the 61 and 62 modelsĢ:- there are 21, 23 and 32 Purple logos horns too, does "Purpleness" apply to those ? if so Howģ:- if you got SH to setup a 62 Purp and a 62 Mk1 would they handle the same, sound the same ?Ĥ:- is all this down to Specific horns ? (comparing a cherrypicked MK3 to a Purple with same neck, would the Mk3 win)Įtc etc. Steve Howard mentions the purple logo as a means of cheaper labelling. there`s talk about them being setup alongside Pro players instead of in the workshop (but a trip to SH would equalize that) and even about having better quality action. I was thinking it was time to de-mythify the Yamaha Purple Logo in one thread. ■ Quick Alarm for quick tasks when you don't have time with minimal settings ■ Use Snooze / Gradually increase volume / Vibrate features to make your awakening gentle ■ Typing Mission - Type a few motivational quotations into your keyboard to energize yourself as you get up ■ Memory Mission - Energize your brain by memorizing which tiles are open ■ Math Mission - Solve simple or advanced math problems and kickstart your brain ■ Step Mission - Get out of bed and take 10 or 20 or 50 steps to get moving right away You'll get to know your body is getting much healthier ■ Squat Mission - Take several rounds of squats as you get up. ■ Shake Mission - Shake your phone up to 999 times to wake up your body Something in bathroom or kitchen is recommended ! ■ Barcode Mission - Scan the barcode or QR code you registered to turn the alarm off. In the shot pictured above, the camera is positioned behind the red dome light on the police car, which obscures our view of Otis’ progress down the sidewalk. A car passes by, while one of the cops is pointing at Otis across the street. People cross right in front of the camera, even when a character is speaking. The signs on the stores are more aggressive, and the guys aren’t all wearing suit jackets, like they were a few minutes ago.Īlso, stuff keeps getting in the way. The street looks grimy in this scene we see trash cans, and there’s a guy sweeping up rubbish in the gutter. This sequence does the opposite of that, in a way that indicates to the audience that they shouldn’t be feeling comfortable anymore. On Clark Kent’s side of the street, everyone was well-dressed and polite, traffic noise was kept to a minimum, and there were no visual distractions to get in the way of the audience focusing on the characters’ interactions. Yesterday, I talked about how Donner cleared the screen of clutter and contradiction when Clark and Lois stepped out of the Daily Planet building into a sunny Metropolis afternoon. Naturally, this dark ritual of summoning begins with a quaint musical comedy street-sweeper, who shouts, “Hi, Otis!” This moment is a perfect example, because over the next four minutes, the film is going to walk us through a gradual transition that takes us from the last scene’s classic romantic comedy meet-shoot and leads us down into the depths of the underworld, and the brutal murder of a central figure in the sequence. People talk about the Krypton / Smallville / Metropolis sections as if that explains everything, but Richard Donner keeps on juxtaposing different styles through the entire movie. The film is essentially a montage of different styles, and once we get to Metropolis, that process doesn’t stop. And then, for about four minutes, it becomes a cop movie.Īs we’ve been going through Superman: The Movie, I’ve been tracking the film’s swift pivots in tone, as it transforms itself from sci-fi space opera to tragic teen drama to screwball comedy, with a detour into the psychedelic mindscapes of the Fortress of Solitude. |
